Death and a Cure

Death and a Cure

Death and a Cure is an Australian indie-rock folk act performed by singer-songwriter Ben Blondel. Since the project began in 2008, Ben has drawn on an eclectic range of influences such as Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver, Dallas Green, Damien Rice, Angus Stone and John Mayer.

From modest beginnings in 2008, he has always aspired to create the music he loves; he counts himself lucky to now be winning the hearts of fans the world over. For Ben, Death and a Cure has always existed and strived for 3 things: To make better art, to create genuine human connections and to be generous. No matter how far his music takes him, he is always thankful that it allows him to achieve those things.

Recently teaming up with LA based Bleed101 records has brought Death and a Cure to huge audiences through deals with MTV, CBS and ABC, seeing his music played on popular US TV shows like Stitchers, Reckless, 16 and Pregnant, Teen mom 2, Underemployed, Twisted, Switched at Birth, Pointe Break and Degrassi.

Death and a Cure's second album is being released on the 18th of April, 2015. The 12 track LP, 'Red Sky Night' is a collection of easy listening/ alternative folk tunes recorded and produced at Chad Blondel Studios, Perth, WA and mastered by Don Bartley at Benchmark Studios, Sydney.

The release of the album title track ’Red Sky Night’ was well received, with national airplay. It was dubbed by Triple-j radio host Dom Alessio as ‘A grand slice of sophisticated pop music”.

In addition to the album, Death and a Cure has a back catalogue of 1 LP ‘Oceans, Lovers and Empires’, 1 EP 'Death and a Cure' and 2 singles 'The Endless Escape' and 'The Spin You've Got Me In'. You can get your hands on the music through the website or any major online digital retailer.

Ben is also known for his role as singer/songwriter for post-hardcore outfit In League with whom he co-wrote 2 LPs and completed a world tour before ceasing involvement in the band in 2013 to focus on Death and a Cure.
